DELMAR - Anthony (Tony) Nicholas Drexel, a former longtime employee of Owen's Corning Fiberglass, and a family man, passed away, on Wednesday June 26, 2024, at his home with his wife by his side. He was 77 years old.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Helen; his devoted son, Jonathan; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline (Jackie); and his adoring grandchild, Jackson; as well as many close friends and extended family.
Tony was born in Albany, N.Y., to Edward and Margaret Drexel on September 3, 1946. He grew up in Delmar, N.Y., and raised his own family there as well.
After graduating from Bethlehem Central High School, Tony enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1966 to 1970. After serving he completed his coursework at the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service and worked in the field for a number of years. He began working at Owen's Corning in 1976 and retired from Owen's Corning in 2002.
He retired young and enjoyed cruises and traveling with his loving wife and close friends. He made numerous trips over the years to North Carolina to visit his grandson, Jackson, which enabled them to build an especially close bond and relationship over the years. He will be remembered for his love of reading, generosity, sense of humor and strong love of family. He will be missed.
