Toscano, Audrey (Rhodes)
TUCSON, Ariz. - Audrey Rhodes Toscano, R.N., M.S.N., a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, was born in Cohoes and passed away peacefully in Tucson on August 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of the late William and Audrey Rhodes, Audrey was a beacon of love, faith, and community service throughout her life. Audrey was a devoted wife to retired Brig. Gen. James P. Toscano, to whom she was married for 56 years. She was a loving mother to Peter (Brigid), Amy (Villy), and Emily Toscano. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Casey, Kailyn, and Owen. Audrey is also survived by her sister, Alice Faulkner (Tommy Faulkner); sister-in-law, Roseann Wakulenko, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William Rhodes Jr. and Julian Rhodes; and sister, Arline Rhodes.
In her professional life, Audrey was a dedicated registered nurse and educator. Her career spanned roles as a charge nurse at Tucson Medical Center, a public health and med surge nurse in New York, and ultimately, a professor of nursing at Fulton Montgomery Community College.
In addition to her career, Audrey was passionate about community service and church involvement. She was a valued member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, participating in women's groups and fervently believing in the power of prayer.
Above all, Audrey was a nurturing and inspiring mother who made her children and cats feel special and loved. Her kindness, wisdom, and the sense of belonging she instilled in her family will be her enduring legacy. Audrey's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have been part of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Hermitage Cat Shelter in Tucson, Ariz.
