Brian was my friend since we were classmates at CCNY in the late 1980's. He was a great guy and a really smart engineer. Meeting and marrying Mary Ellen was the greatest thing that ever happened to Brian. Norah and Ellen brought SO MUCH joy to his life. Whenever we spoke, even just about bridges or pizza or the Yankees, Brian would tell me about his girls. He was so proud to be their father.
We miss you, Brian. You were one of the all-time greats.

I was saddened to hear of Brian's passing. Brian and I started at NYSDOT on the same day in 1992. We walked in the door of HR at the same time and would often joke (it was kind of a comedy bit) about who was higher on the seniority list. We ended up sitting next to each other and working closely together for over 2 years before our careers went in different directions. We did a lot of good work together and most importantly we laughed a lot while doing it. He had a quick wit, taught me (from NH) a lot about growing in the Bronx, Irish heritage, the Greatful Dead, and NY style pizza (pepperoni and onions after softball games).
Professionally, I admired his accomplishments in developing bridge rating engineering software that is used by every state and being nationally recognized expert in the field.
It was a privilege to have known him.
