When I was in high school, particularly during freshman and sophomore year, I was bullied a lot. But Chris was so kind to me. He looked on me with empathy and spoke to me, hung out with me, and let me sit with him at lunch. I will never forget his understanding, friendliness, and eagerness to help. To this day, I still value his friendship and think of him often. Rest in peace, friend. Jesus is your everything now and I know one day He will welcome me home, too. I'll see you there.

To our wonderful son, we have waited to write this as we have been in denial and now reality has set in and you are really gone. You were a special soul, kind, loving, caring, you put everyone else first. We miss your daily calls, your silly texts, the wonderful meals, your creaking ankle, what wine to pick, your surprise gifts, playing with Reagan and Logan, playing in the pool, your calls to wait up for you to take a swim, our trips to the city to see Ty and Lauren on the train, swimming with the dolphins, the fishing trips with Dad and Matthew and the stories when you came home, your laugh, your hugs, your undying love for all of us. Just learned of this incredibly sad news. Chris was such a sweet, funny, lovely person. It is so tragic and painful when we lose a young family member. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and co-workers at Carman W&L. May you find peace in time from your memories of Chris and in knowing how many lives he touched. His kind, gentle soul will be greatly missed.

I was shocked to hear of Chris's passing. I only knew him through the liquor store, but every time I walked in there, he had a smile and a funny story or two to tell. The primary reason I kept coming back to Carman Wine & Liquor there was because of his engaging personality and his ability to make you feel welcomed. He was an exceptional person. Words can not begin to express my heartfelt sadness over the loss of Chris. I had the privilege of getting to know him at Carman Wine and he was truly a remarkable young man. I will miss his smile and hugs tremendously. He was polite, kind, loving, gentle and very funny. Whenever I was having a bad day, I could count on him to put a smile on my face.
My heart goes out to his family and friends and to all the people whose lives he touched. He truly loved his family and the last time I saw him he was talking about his upcoming vacation on the boat.
Keep his memory alive and know that he was truly a wonderful young man who was loved by many.

Chris was one of the great ones, he always treated people like they were special. My wife and I would ask, "Did you see Chris today?" He was always a bright spot in our day and will be forever missed. Although we only saw him occasionally, he touched our lives and we are deeply saddened for his family and friends.

I was truly saddened this evening with the news that my daughter gave me about the passing of Chris McCabe. What a sweet person he was. He was extremely respectful and so very polite with a very kind heart. I can't even imagine how devastated his parents and family must be. I would stop in the liquor store and he would always ask about my kids, and once told me how he made dinner for his parents for a special occasion, he had a flare for cooking, and we shared our cooking tips. The last time I saw him was Aug. 11, he wasn't himself and I asked what was wrong, he said he was just back from vacation and was ill. In spite of that I watched him assist an older gentleman who had difficulty in walking by gathering up his wine and then walking him to the car. He then came in and help me pick out some special wines for my brother for his birthday, He went the extra mile and got me a basket from the back, so that I could make a gift basket gift. He will be truly missed. A gentle soul has gone to heaven, and I am so very sad that the world his missing a kind angel.

To the McCabes... I have known Chris since the 9th grade. He was not only an amazing friend but he was a kind hearted soul. He never judged and always made sure to put a smile on your face. Movie nights were a blast and I wish we could have had more. The liquor store will be quiet and many people will miss that messy haired boy with the perfect smile.
