Darrell R. VanLeuven

Van Leuven, Darrell R. EAST NASSAU Darrell R. Van Leuven, 59 of Hoags Corners Road, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at St. Peter's Hospital after a short illness. Born in Albany, Darrell was the son of the late Robert Van Leuven and Ruth Aleschus Warner. Darrell was raised in Rensselaer, West Sand Lake and East Greenbush. He attended the Averill Park High School and graduated from Columbia High School, class of 1979. Darrell served in the Army from 1982 until 1984. Darrell had worked for Polsinello Fuels in Rensselaer for 25 years where he was the I.T. manager. Darrell was a board member of LWEM (Living Waters Evangelistic Ministries). He was the worship leader of Life In Christ Fellowship in Averill Park and was a member of the Angel Band where he was a lead guitarist and singer. Darrell was a man of many skills and was self-taught in many things including electronics and computers. He enjoyed collecting and restoring clocks, kerosene lamps, and machinery. Survivors include his beloved wife of 27 years, Brenda Meissner Van Leuven; his son, Brad (Megan) Brown, and his daughter Rebecca (Tom Gill III) all of East Nassau; his sister, Caryl Mosher of Porters Corners; and his grandchildren, Alliyah, Lucas and Madison Brown, Tyler Pierce and Thomas Gill IV, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 - 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park followed by a service at 6:30 p.m. A graveside service with Army honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 3, in the Hillside Cemetery, Firetower Road, West Stephentown.
