Doris Compton Obituary

Compton, Doris Seger PORT ORANGE, Fla. Doris S. Compton passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Mrs. Compton was born in Schenectady, N.Y. and moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1964 from Knox, N.Y. She moved to Summerfield, Fla. in 2005, where she passed away. She worked for G.E. all of her career. She was a devoted member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Port Orange. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Daytona Drifters R.V. Club. She was an avid R.V.er and enjoyed crafts. Mrs. Compton leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Robert (Helen) Seger, The Villages, and William (Chen) Seger, Pace, Fla.; stepson, Mel (Bobbie) Compton, N.J.; stepdaughter, Pru (Fred) Holmes, Port Orange; brother, Kenneth (Ruth) Wait, Pa.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Seger, Susan Petrosino and Amory Lawler; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and three sisters. A celebration of life will be 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, Fla., with the Reverend Paul Pollock as the celebrant. The interment will be in Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, Fla. immediately following the service. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 p.m. till 1:30 p.m., for an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, 3701 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL 32129.
