Everett Ross Obituary

Ross, Everett L. SARATOGA SPRINGS Everett L. Ross, 91, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., at age 13 he moved with his family to Altamont, N.Y. He graduated from the former Altamont High School and enlisted in the Army during World War II. After rising through the ranks and attending officers candidate school, he was appointed 1st lieutenant in the infantry and served as a platoon leader in Europe where he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry and the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat. He married the former Regina A. McDonald of Albany and was employed by General Electric Co. in Schenectady, N.Y. After retirement, he and his wife moved from Guilderland to Palm Harbor, Fla. He moved to Saratoga Springs in 2002 after his wife's death. He is survived by his son Alan L. Ross, Saratoga Springs; a stepdaughter Elizabeth Cole, Amsterdam; three sisters, Constance Webber, Sandown, N.H., Grace Kimmey, Rutland, Vt., Ruth Sager, Fayetteville, N.Y.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Roderick Ross. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515, the Northeast Institute for the Blind, or a charity of one's choice in his memory.

My dad, Preston Hasbrouck, enjoyed having dinner with Everett every evening at Prestwick Chase. He really enjoyed his company. He will be missed. May God bless him, you and your family.
