Gregory Sonsini Obituary

Sonsini, Gregory SANTA MONICA, Calif. Gregory Sonsini passed away on January 26, 2009 after a brief illness surrounded by his family at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. He was born in Troy on December 20, 1937, the son of the late Quirino Sonsini and Teresa Sonsini. He graduated from LaSalle Institute and Rochester Institute of Techno-logy, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. Following his graduation, he worked for Xerox in the paper feeding unit and then to Sprague Electric in Adams, Mass. His career took him to Calif. where he worked for Potter Co. as area sales manager; for Varian as marketing manager; Raytheon as senior scientist/engineer in the sensors and electronic systems; and finally for Hughes Aircraft Co. as a scientist in the electro optical and data systems group, retiring in 2000 after 14 years of service. Greg was predeceased in 1985 by his wife of 20 years, Gail Kreps. Survivors include his three sons, James, Anthony and Robert of Malibu; his brother, Thomas (Diane) Sonsini of Lincoln, Calif.; his sisters, Carmela (Vincent) Andriano of Fla., Frances Sonsini of Troy; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert. Greg loved daily walks on the Malibu beach that was only three blocks from his home, gardening, cooking gourmet and Italian meals for his many friends and making them happy telling jokes. Services were held at Our Lady of Malibu Catholic Church on January 26, 2009 with burial in Woodland Cemetery in Santa Monica.

I was stunned to see Greg's name. I hadn't heard it in so long to see he died was a shock.
