James Meyer Obituary
ALBANY - James H. Meyer Jr. 59, "Our Flower Guy," It is with sadness that we announce "Our Angel in Orange" has taken his final bow on March 5, 2024.
Born on March 31, 1964, he was the son of the late James Sr. and Patricia Meyer.
He graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1982 and received his college Theatre Arts degree from the Junior College of Albany. He was the founding father of Family Players of NENY and appeared on many stages throughout the Capital Region. He was the owner of PJ's Petals and Plaids flower shop in Colonie, and always had a fondness for the color orange. He also spent time working at Pedrick's Floral in Scotia and opened floral departments for ShopRite stores in the Albany area.
James was a mentor to many, and friend to all. He directed the musicals at Rensselaer, and Stillwater high schools and lended his vocals to the Broadway Cast Revival album of "Pippin."
James is survived by his soulmate and "Best Dude" Brad O'Hare, his life partner Lisa (Dr. Martin) Kipp, his "work wife" and friends Carol (Tom) Tommell, and his brother and sister-in-law, Scott (Marge) Meyer. He also leaves behind several cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, N.Y. 12205 and a celebration of life on Wednesday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home with interment at Memory Gardens.
As a final wish, he requested his services to be a "Sea of Orange" - Donations in his memory can be made to Mac-Haydn Theatre, Chatham, N.Y.

I know Jim as Flower Guy .
I am his salesperson at Bill Doran Wholesale floral .
Jim and i go back aways in the Flower world. Pedricks , Flowers By Jo-Ann .I'm so sorry , Jim and i were also friends chatting about life when he'd come into Doran's. Very artistic and talented .
I will miss Jim, our conversations were fun.

So saddened at the news. Jim was a wonderful friend duringnthe HS Line n Cue Era, and some years beyond, and I have some great memories of some unique times ....
Like the 'Friendship Wedding' between he and Lisa Fasano, which I had the honor of presiding over as the 'priest', which I used my best Monty Python Monk's tone and delivery for ... to think they picked me of all people to be a part of the event, who'd ever believe it!
Golfing at area golf courses, yes, he introduced me to the game, as I was a baseball player
A cool train trip to NYC, saw a play and roamed the streets of NYC until it was time to head back to Albany ... a perfect sunny yet cool by NYC standards day ... he had chosen to wear a Sailor Outfit that day ... but that too was just Jim, being him ...
It didn't phase me, but some mean looking dude walking step for step across the street from us at one point as we approached a certain neighborhood was having it ...
... and he successfully dissuaded us from going further in that direction ...
Those are the big three stories to share !
I will always remember them, and Jim for them.
May the cherished memories you all have help to give you comfort as you reflect on the life of an ultra kind hearted soul who has left us behind for greater purpose this week.

I´m sorry to hear of your passing, Jamie! For some reason, you were on my mind last week. I haven´t seen you in over 40 years, and yet, there you were in my memories. I remember hanging out with you & my sister at Maywood. (You were a year behind me). I remember your kindness & you were truly a good friend. May God bless you for eternity

I am the mother of Kelly Moulton Harris, one of Jim´s former Colonie´s Line and Cue friends. They played in several productions together. He was a nice young man. I´m sure he had many friends and will be missed by many.
