Jean Nelson Obituary

Nelson, Jean E. II
VOORHEESVILLE - Jean E. Nelson II peacefully passed away at his home in Voorheesville, on February 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family: wife, Mary; sons, Joseph, Jeffrey (Ashlynn), and Christopher; and sister, Marianne (Holly). He is also survived by his dear brother, Michael. Jean was raised in Simsbury, Conn., by the late Jean E. Nelson and Mary Janco Nelson. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Albany Law School, he was employed by the New York State Bar Association for nearly 38 years, where he forged close friendships with many fellow staff and Association members. However, Jean's greatest passion in life was being a good husband and father.
In his personal life, Jean was an enthusiastic gardener and an avid hiker of remote Adirondack Mountain trails and a voracious reader of historical novels and spy thrillers. For several years in retirement, he was a volunteer for Community Caregivers of Guilderland, driving clients for medical appointments and various errands.
Jean and his family send deeply heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at both NYOH and St. Peter's Hospital for their outstanding professionalism, tender care, and constant thoughtfulness. You truly are angels!
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, Jean humbly requests that contributions be made to the New York Bar Foundation (tnybf.org). To leave a message for the family, please visit McVeighFuneralHome.com

Mary, Joe and family,
I are so sorry for your loss. Jean was an unbelievably kind, gentle and amazing man. I spent a lot of enjoyable times with him during Pop Warner football. I can still see his smile and hear his quiet laugh. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
