ALBANY - Jo-Anne L. Corey, 94 of Colonie, passed away after a brief illness, on May 13, 2023.
She was born on November 28, 1928, to the late John J. and Mildred Coons. Prior to her marriage, Joanne was employed at A&P in the accounting department. In 1951, she married her beloved husband, Nelson and they started their family. It was her greatest joy to be a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always available to lend a helping hand and spread her love to her family. Jo-Anne enjoyed trips to the New Jersey shore, gardening, and the N.Y. Yankees. She was a communicant of St. John's Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Nelson. Jo-Anne is survived by her brother, John J. Coons. She was the loving mother of Donna L. Drew, Robin C. DiGiacomo (Daniel), and Lisa C. Orsini (Paul). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tamara, Taryn, Chelsie, Caitlin, Dayna, Connor and Brittany; her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Isabelle, Avery, Gianna, Peyton, Danielle, and Cavan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff of the Eddy Village Green, House 7, for their care and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, from 4-6 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet. A service will take place on Friday, May 19, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
