Joan A. Lange

Lange, Joan A. TROY Joan A. Lange,76, of Troy died August 2, 2013 at home surrounded by her family after a one and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Helen (Zabinski) Mesley and the wife of the late Martin T. Lange. She was educated in Catholic Central High School and Albany Business College. Joan retired from New York Telephone in 1992. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Joan was an avid golfer, traveler, decorator and shopper and was an exceptional gardener and creative artist. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include three children, Jody Lange, Karen Lange, and Thomas (Karyn) Lange; two grandchildren, Bailey and Keegan; a sister, Mary (Stanley) Smulsky; a brother, John F. (Denise) Mesley; several aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families; and special friends, Lorraine Stone, Janet Mack, Betty Zepf, Betty Kelly and Joanne Gary. The family would like to especially thank the staff of the Albany Memorial Hospital ICU, the sixth floor, Dr. Dudek, Dr. Castro and Dr. Arif for their care, comfort and support throughout Joan's difficult journey and to Reverend James Vaughan. Immediately following calling hours, the funeral will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave. at Parkview Court, Troy with Reverend James Vaughan officiating. Interment will be in Saint Jean's Cemetery, Troy.
