WATERVLIET - Margaret F. "Peg" Bateman, 87, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. She was born in Troy on April 30, 1938, the daughter of the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Curry) Rosney.
Peg was raised in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by the N.Y. Telephone Co. in Troy as a telephone operator.
After raising her two boys, she returned to work for Kelly Temporary Services as a switchboard operator for NYSUT and Hewlett Packard.
She was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet and Our Lady of the Assumption Church, in Latham.
Peg loved attending her family's sporting events. She was an avid reader, loved vacationing in Wells, Maine, and was a fan of the N.Y. Yankees, N.Y. Giants, and UCONN men's and women's basketball. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of the late John R. "Jack" Bateman, who died in 2020; devoted mother of John Reed "Jack" (Carol) Bateman Jr. of Gansevoort, and Stephen Charles (Lisa) Bateman of Waterford; adored grandmother of Kailynn (Jeffrey) LaLiberte, Keith (Carly) Bateman, Stephanie Bateman, Austin (Taylor) Bateman and Skyler Reed (Casey) Bateman; great-grandmother of Kinsley and Weston; sister of the late Ann Muellecker, Jack, Phil and Mary Rosney; sister-in-law of the late Lillian (Don) Wheatley. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:15 a.m., from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, and at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham. Interment, Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 4 to 6 p.m.
