Burns, Noreen M. Cox AVERILL PARK Noreen M. Cox Burns, 80 of Burden Lake Road, died on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Cox and Rosemarie Agnes Cox and wife for 59 years of Robert S. Burns. She was raised in Schenectady, summered at "the farm" on Garrett Lane in Ballston Spa, and resided in Averill Park for the past 52 years. Noreen was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and Spencer Business Institute. Noreen was an accounts clerk and worked in employee health at Albany Medical Center Hospital for 20 years, retiring 20 years ago. She was an active volunteer for many years at The Doors of Hope and a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park and its Rosary Altar Society. She was also a volunteer with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, St. Henry's Elementary School and a hockey and figure skating mom. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Michael Stephen (Tracy Lynn Ferris) Burns of Scotia and Robert W. (Michelle) Burns of West Sand Lake; a daughter, Kathleen (T.J.) Zieziulewicz of Rensselaer; two brothers, George (Kimberly) Cox of Maryland and Frederick (Sandy Hoffland) Cox of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren, Sean Michael, Matthew Charles, McKenzie DeAnne Burns and Thomas Joseph Zieziulewicz and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park on Thursday, February 17, from 4-6 p.m. Face covering and social distancing are required. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 18, at 11 a.m. in the church with Reverend Thomas F. Holmes, Pastor. Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery, Averill Park.
