Paul Albertson Obituary

Albertson, Paul E.
AVERILL PARK - Paul E. Albertson, 70 of Pikes Pond Road in the Town of Nassau, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 20, 2023, with his wife at his side, after a long illness.
Born in Queens, Paul was the son of the late Ludmilla Shulgin and Edward T. Albertson. Paul had happy childhood memories of the years he lived with his grandparents in Milford, Conn. Paul graduated with a bachelor's degree in geology from CUNY City College, but it was several years earlier when he was a student at Queensborough Community College where he met his wife of 46 years, Kathleen Harmon. Paul and Kathy married on April 30, 1977, and moved to Averill Park in 1979 for a slower pace of life. Paul and Kathy became parents to Michael Paul and Jason Matthew and worked hard to make a good life for their children. Paul adored his boys and instilled in them a love of music and the outdoors. He volunteered countless hours coaching sports and leading the local Cub Scout troop, serving as a role model for dozens of children in the community.
Paul retired in 2011 from the N.Y.S. Department of Health, where he worked for 35 years. Paul enjoyed his retirement making furniture in his wood shop, brewing beer, rooting for the Mets and volunteering at the Hancock Shaker Village. Paul was a gentle, easy-going man who was endlessly intelligent but would never show off - always preferring to be on the periphery, enjoying a good laugh with those he loved.
Paul leaves a loving legacy as well as a hole in the hearts of those he leaves behind: his wife, Kathy; his sons, Michael (Yolonda Nunley) and Jason (Jessica Dardano); his grandchildren, Cecil and Jordyn (Michael), to whom he was "Baba," as well as his extended family.
Paul's family wishes to thank Dr. Susan Weaver and staff of NYOH, Dr. Kyle Denniston, and the Community Hospice. They would also like to thank Paul's many friends, near and far, who have enriched his life throughout the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Rte. 66, Averill Park. and a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, in the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Hancock Shaker Village, P.O. Box 927, Pittsfield, MA, 01202 or the Hoag's Corners Ambulance, P.O. Box 90, East Nassau, NY, 12062.

Very belated condolences to you Kathy and your family. It has been so many years ago, (I don't even want to do the math!). But of course that one lovely memory is having dinner with your family, and how I very much appreciated that potato salad you made! I would love to reconnect with you.

Rest in heavenly peace dear Paul! You've been like family since the cub scout and SLY basketball days guiding our boys along the way! Making movies at the fishing camp with the ol' gang, and your times at Boyhaven! We will miss your sweet friendship and kindness always!

Paul is in heaven. I have no doubt. He was an exceptional friend and colleague. There was never a day that he didn´t do a kind act for someone. He will be truly missed.
