Paul Pezzolla Obituary

Pezzolla, Paul F.
ALBANY - Paul F. Pezzolla, 69 of Albany, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 17, 2023, after a long illness.
Paul was born in Albany on January 6, 1954, the son of the late Francis P. Pezzolla Jr. and Marcia V. Fish Pezzolla. Paul resided in Albany and East Greenbush all of his life and was a graduate of Guilderland High School, class of 1972. He started his career as a truck driver with the Teamsters working for various companies. He retired from the Albany International Airport, as a jet bridge mechanic. His greatest joy was spending time with family and long-time friends. His love and pride for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds. Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, classic cars, and a "good fishing story."
Paul is survived by his children, Shannon E. Pezzolla of Delmar, Paul F. Pezzolla Jr. of Westerlo, and Nicholas A. Pezzolla (Tracey) of East Greenbush; his grandchildren, Leah DiPisa, Victoria Sweetman (Austin) and Salvatore Pezzolla; and his great-grandchildren, Isabella and Theodore Sweetman. He is also survived by his brothers, Peter Pezzolla (Sue) of Albany and Stephen Pezzolla (Lisa) of Knox and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany on Wednesday at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
Paul's family suggests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Paul's favorite charity.

Paul Pezzolla´s family intermarried (to my Aunt Gertrude Schauman Gioscia) and represents three generations of friendship. Paul´s Mom is Godmother to my sister Theresa. We miss Paul and pray for his eternal happiness with family in Heaven.

Pezzolla Family visits (with young Paul in tow) to our home in North Bethlehem in the 50´s and 60´s were celebratory due to our longstanding and multigenerational friendship. Somehow, it doesn´t seem so long ago...

I am so very sorry to hear the loss of Paul. We grew up in the same neighborhood. While going to our first day of kindergarten I decided to get off the bus with Paul instead of my home. Well you can imagine where this story went. Sending Paul’s family and friends love and prayers and peace in your hearts. May you hold onto all your wonderful memories forever in your hearts.

What a guy, my father-in-law, so many years and so many memories. What I will remember most about you, was your complete and unconditional love for your children and grandchildren. In going through old photos recently, it struck me that the theme in each photo was your love shining through to all that were around you. I will miss your smile, quirkiness, annoyance, and famous sayings. You have left a lasting imprint on the two men that I love the most. Thanks for loving them, taking care of them and all that you did for my family. I will do my best to watch over them, as they struggle with such an unsurmountable loss. May your soul be free of all your earthly burdens, rest easy.

Love, Tracey

My deepest condolences. I lived around the corner from your family in East Greenbush. I remember when Paul brought his kids to trick or treat to our house because he was our cousin. Mary and Jim Murphy are my parents and Mary (Knapp) Murphy was your cousins, which means we are cousins as well. Your family is in my prayers.

To Shannon,Paul,Nick , our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Your father was a long time friend and although we hadn't seen each other in few years when we did it was like we just picked up where we had left off the last time. Try to focus on the good times with your dad to get through your time of grief. John & Jean LaFore
