Philip J. McDermott

ALBANY Philip J. McDermott, 84, of Albany, died peacefully Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness. Son of the late Ruth M. McDermott, Philip was was born and raised in Albany and remained a lifelong resident of the Capital District. A graduate of Albany High School, Philip attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute prior to serving in the United States Army in both the states and Europe during World War II. After returning from France, Philip worked as a service officer for the American Legion before beginning a career in new automobile sales at Livermoore Chevrolet then Wendell Cadillac in Albany. Philip was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany. Philip is survived by his daughters, Suzanne McDermott and son-in-law, Torin Spellman of Delmar and Patricia McDermott of Delmar; son, Christopher J. McDermott of San Francisco, Calif. and stepson, Michael Daggett of Albany. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Tebbutt & Frederick Memorial Home, 633 Central Ave., Albany on Friday, April 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at The Cathedral of All Saints, Albany. Interment in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
