Robert J. Makar

Makar, Robert J. LATHAM Robert J. Makar, 70, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at his home with his family at his side. Born in Troy on May 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Ann Aransky Golinski and stepson of the late Stanley Golinski. Bob was raised in South Troy and attended Troy High School and Saratoga High School. He was a very good athlete growing up playing baseball and football. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving in Germany. Upon returning home, he was employed as a carpenter at the Watervliet Arsenal for over 20 years retiring at the age of 55. He was a member of the Latham Knights of Columbus where he also was a bartender and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union. Bob coached in the Latham Little League while his sons were growing up. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, golf, softball, darts and bowling. He wintered in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Punta Gorda, Fla. He was the beloved husband of 47 years of Phyllis M. Inco Makar; devoted father of Jennifer Makar Bruce of Clifton Park, Michael Makar of Latham and the late Robert J. Makar; proud "Pa" to Vance and Trent Bruce; brother of Julie Flynn of Brunswick, Christine (Brian) Walker of Greenfield Center, Gary (late Allison) Golinski of Gansevoort and the late Eva (late John) D'Agostino and Gloria Beck; son-in-law of Irma M. Inco and the late Carmen Inco; brother-in-law of Carmen J. (Donna Rickson) Inco. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
