Robert Sagar Obituary

Sagar, Robert "Bob"
COLONIE - Bob Sagar died Wednesday, November 27, at his home in Colonie. Bob was born June 6, 1948, the son of the late Henry and Clara Sagar. He grew up in Albany and attended Philip Schuyler H.S. Bob was a proud Vietnam veteran, who served in the Army. He was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Bob started working for Greyhound Bus Lines in 1974, driving much of New York State and Quebec, Canada. He always had a funny or outlandish tale from the many trips. In 1987, Bob started driving for CDTA, retiring in 2011. Bob was always proud of the safe driving records he earned during his career. He was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union.
Bob was a member of the Albany Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post 1520 and the P.A.C.C. He enjoyed dancing with his best dance partner, Fran, at many events at both. Bob also was a member of the Bethlehem Memorial VFW Post 3185, Delmar, where he held several official posts over the years as well as bartended.
Bob loved to cook. He was frequently in the kitchen concocting delicious meals. Bob also enjoyed traveling, making sure he took two trips a year. And, of course he also loved dancing. Bob was a good friend to many and was always ready to help.
Bob leaves behind his partner in crime, Fran Buist. He is survived by his son, Mark (Suzanne) Sagar, their children: Alexis Sagar and Mark Sagar, Jr.. Also, his extended family Eric and Elise Buist, Paul and Stephanie Buist and their children John, Alex, Lucas and Riley Buist.
Surviving also are his former wife, Gaye Sagar, her sisters, brother and their families.
Special thanks to his Vet Center Counselor Amanda Leroy and the staff at the Albany Stratton V.A. Hospital for their nonstop dedication. Bob always had the highest praise for the work they all do.
He will be dearly missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, N.Y. 12205.
