SARATOGA - Wayne C. Sherman, age 65, of Ballston Lake passed away suddenly at his home in Ballston Lake, N.Y., on Thursday, February 8th. Wayne was born on June 20, 1958, in Quantico, Va. to Edna (Bosley) and the late Gerald Sherman. He is survived by his wife, Janine M. (Badger) Sherman of Ballston Lake; his mother, Edna; his two sons, Bryan Sherman of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dylan Sherman of Lexington, S.C.; and his brothers and sisters, Jake (Tammy) Sherman of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Michael (Shirley) Sherman of West Chazy, N.Y., James (Elaine) Sherman of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Carla Wells of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Steven (Peggy) Sherman of Lexington, S.C., and Shelly (David) Pelkey of West Chazy, N.Y.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Sherman; and brother-in-law, Hubie Wells.
Wayne left his hometown in 1977, at the age of 19, to join the United States Marine Corps, where he served at Cherry Point, N.C. in the 2nd Marine Air Wing as an aircraft mechanic on the A6E Intruder. Wayne was the first of his siblings to enlist in military service and was a proud 2nd generation Marine.
After an Honorable Discharge in 1981, Wayne married his first wife Margaret Varin of West Chazy, N.Y., and had two children, Bryan in 1986 and Dylan in 1990, whom he loved dearly. Wayne was an avid fisherman and golfer whose greatest pleasure was to be joined by his children, family, and friends in both.
Wayne retired from General Electric in Niskayuna, N.Y. in 2019, at the age of 61, where he worked as a Machinist and in manufacturing after receiving his degree in Machining from Hudson Valley Community College on May 17, 1997.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, N.Y.
A Funeral Service with military honors will conclude the evening at 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
