William McBride Obituary

McBride, William HALFMOON William McBride, 83, of Farm to Market Road, died early Thursday, December 27, 2007 at his home, after a brief illness. Born in Troy, October 22, 1924, son of the late William and Clara Wojtowicz McBride Sr., and he lived in the Mechanicville-Halfmoon area all his life. Bill was a proud dairy farmer for many years, ending in 1963. Thereafter, he was a self- employed dump truck driver until retiring in 1989. He was a reliable person who enjoyed his working career. A charter and longtime member of the Hillcrest Volunteer Fire Department, he was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 91, Mechanicville. Bill was said to be a great polka dancer and, along with his wife, attended many dances through the years. He also enjoyed snowmobiling. But, most of all, Bill cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, siblings and friends. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mona Ciepiela McBride; his children, William (Jackie) McBride of Stillwater, Jacalyn (Dwaine) Hoyt, Louis (Debbie) McBride and Kathleen (Peter) Geleta, all of Mechanic-ville; his nine grandchildren, a great granddaughter; his siblings, Leona Serbalik, Esther Peregrim, John McBride, Mary Cuilla, Thomas (Sandy) McBride, all of Mechanicville, and Joseph (Carole) McBride of S.C.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Agnes Dumar and brothers, James and George McBride. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home on Monday from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to either Hillcrest Fire Department or Community Hospice of Saratoga in memory of William McBride.
