Daan Witkamp Obituary

WITKAMP Daan Frederik Witkamp Sr., age 75 was called to Heaven on April 28, 2015. He was born in Nijmegen, Netherlands on March 15, 1940, and served as an Officer in the Royal Netherlands Army. He worked for several years as a foreign correspondent in Spain for the Dutch, Belgian, and German news medias. In Jacksonville, he owned Witkamp Export, Inc. and worked for approximately 40 years in the industry of international export of agriculture equipment. He received the coveted presidential E-Award for Excellence in Export from President Nixon in 1972, and the E-Star award for continued excellence in 1984 from President Reagan. He also founded and presided over 'La Asociacion Latinoamericana De Exposi Agrope', a worldwide exhibitor's organization. He loved playing tennis and was a member of The Club Continental for many years. After his wife Odette received a miraculous healing of a brain tumor through prayer, he turned his life over to Jesus Christ and found His amazing love and peace that the world longs for. Together with Odette, he ministered God's salvation, love, and abundance in more than 23 countries. He was a true servant-leader in the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International. Surviving family members include his lovely wife of almost 45 years Odette, sons Daan (Stephanie) and Rex (Sabrah); daughter Sjoukje (Fred Mooneyham); grandsons Jack, Luke, and Felix; granddaughters Kiersten, Caitlyn, Olivia, and Norah. Surviving family from Holland includes aunt Yanske, brother Jaap, nephews Melcher and Bart; and nieces Selke and Kiki. Daan had expressed his belief that his death should be a glorious experience; a final homecoming to a loving Father and that at his funeral, there should be joy instead of sadness. A memorial service will be held Friday May 8, 2015 at 11:00am at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2701 Hodges Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32224-1264. Dear Odette and family,
Saddened to read about the loss of your husband. Our friendship goes back years ago when we lived in Orange Park and our daughter Noelle was friends with your children. Daan and I shared the same birthday .He was an exceptional person.
May you cherish the memories of your life together and the love you shared.
