John Hancock Obituary

HANCOCK
John Perry "PawPaw" Hancock, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born January 7, 1940 in Zephyrhills, Florida to the late Joseph and Bessie Mae Hancock. He moved with his family to Jacksonville when he was 10 years old and later graduated from Paxon High School. Mr. Hancock was the sole proprietor of a kitchen and bath cabinetry business, mostly performing contract work for Kitchen World and other local homebuilders. Perry was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Florida Gators, and the Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed fishing and watching old westerns, but more importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Perry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Hancock and a brother, James Hancock. Survivors include four daughters, Margaret DeVore (William), Cindy Hancock, Karen Solomon (John) and Patty Gonzalez (Louis); two brothers, Robert Hancock and Otis Lee Hancock; four grandsons, Travis (Tori), Taylor, Nicholas, and Michael; one great grandson, Hudson; other loving family, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, June 16, in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 26, at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 North Main Street (Gate #1), with his nephew, Rev. Matthew Rouse, officiating. Flowers may be sent or donations made in his memory to The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation or The Blake Bortles Foundation.
