Knute Fosaaen Obituary

FOSAAEN Knute Arthur Fosaaen, Sr., 85, died at home on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores Fosaaen, whom he met and married at Camp Blanding; nine children: Knute Jr. " Bo" (Johnnie), Ardyth " Susie", Ardyn " Van" , Jerome (Christine), Debra, Sharon White (Charles), Karon Plasha (Michael), Ken (Cathy) and Jon, grandchildren: Jonathon, Nathanael, Michael and Rachael Fosaaen, Erin White, Michael and Perry Gray and Aaron Beasely, and many nieces and nephews. Knute was born in Cando, North Dakota to Knute and Annie Brodahl Fosaaen on November 30, 1917. He is survived by one sister; Ragnhild Johnson of Minnesota; two brothers, Alvin and Erling predeceased him. A W.W. II Army Veteran of the South Pacific Theater, he served with the 164th Regiment of the Americal Division. Prior to that he was with the Civilian Conservation Corps, and was in the National Guard before and after serving in the Army. Prior to his military service he worked on his parents farm in Egeland, ND. He moved to Jacksonville in 1950 and in 1953 established Cando Appliances, a laundry, sales and service business and was known by many of his customers as "Mr. Cando". He was a Charter member and Past President of the Sons of Norway "Gateway to Florida" Lodge # 3-541 also member of V.F.W. Lodge # 7909 and American Legion Post # 88. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 6801 Merrill Road, with Pastor Imhoff officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 6940 Atlantic Boulevard and at the church one prior to service. Graveside services will be in Cando, ND. I always enjoyed the fellowship and good times we all had in the mornings at coffee time at Mcdonald's and K-Mart. We will certainly miss him.
