MARTIN PHELAN Obituary

PHELAN Martin DuPont Phelan, 99, of Vicar s Landing, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida passed away on March 20, 2013. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, Graduated on 1934 from DePauw University, served with the Army as an ordinance officer during World War II and retired as a colonel in the Army Reserve. After the war, he moved to Davenport, Iowa, and was Executive Vice President of the Eastin-Phelan Corp. He was also very involved in various civic and church activities. Martin and his late wife, Mary Kay Phelan moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1998. Survivors include his sons, Richard Phelan (Edna) of Auburn, Alabama and Jeremy Phelan (Anne Paddock) of Skokie, Illinois. In addition, he is survived by six grandchildren, Kelly Phelan Parkman (Mark), Lindsay Phelan Dendy (David), Richard Scott Phelan (Holly), Todd Moore Phelan (Alice), Christopher Martin Phelan and Katharine Virginia Phelan and ten great grandchildren; Alex, Will and Charlie Parkman, Hannah Grace, Davis and Ellah Claire Dendy, Lyla, Riley, Connor and Bennett Phelan. A memorial service will be held at the Auditorium at Vicars Landing at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vicars Landing Scholarship Committee, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida or the Christ Episcopal Church Foundation Scholarship Fund, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
