William Khoury Obituary

Mr. William John Khoury, 86, passed away on August 30th after a lengthy illness. Mr. Khoury was a native of Jacksonville and had resided in Ponte Vedra Beach for the past 20 years. He was born on August 7, 1915, the son of John and Catherine Khoury. Mr. Khoury and his brother Emmett were business partners who owned and operated Khoury Brothers Wholesale Dry Goods, an establishment which served Jacksonville for 45 years. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Mr. Khoury was one of the first young men in Duval County to volunteer in the U. S. Army during WWII. He faithfully served his country for 5 years and achieved the rank of Tech Sergeant. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious achievement in ground combat. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn; his brother, Emmett; two daughters, Katherine Khoury Thompson of Reston, VA and Susan Khoury Dickson of Orlando, FL; one granddaughter, Susan Thompson Lassiter and a great-grandchild, Lauren Elizabeth Lassiter. Graveside services will be held on September 4th at 10AM in Evergreen Cemetery (Gate 5), Jacksonville. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Homes, 249-2374.
