Ethel M. Ordway, 82, of Whitesville, N.Y., died Thursday, March 2, 2017, in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, N.Y.
Born Dec. 29, 1934, in Little Marsh, she was the daughter of Dana and Ethel Rogers Tracy. On March 13, 1954, in Whitesville, N.Y., she married Leon J. Ordway, who predeceased her on Oct. 16, 2014.
She was employed by Wellsville Manor, Whitesville Central School and worked as a private duty caregiver. Ethel was a member of the Current Events Club in Whitesville.
Surviving are five sons, Douglas E. (Theresa) Tracy of Wellsboro, Richie L. (Annie ) Ordway of Stannards, N.Y., Rickie L. (Holly) Ordway, Leonard D. (Karen) Ordway, Leon J. (Monica) Ordway, Jr., all of Whitesville; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Jean) Tracy of Knoxville, Dana Tracy, Jr. of Galeton, Leonard (Georgia) Tracy of Wellsboro; two sisters, Laura (David) Nelson of Tonawanda, N.Y. Donna (William) Olinger of Westfield; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Etta Copenhaver, Donna Belle Tracy, Wilma Cicia, Winifred T. "Peg" Keller; and a brother, Maynard Tracy.
Friends may call Thursday, March 16, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Federated Church, Harrison Valley, where a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17, at 11 a.m. Pastor Ed Collins will officiate. Burial will be in North Bingham Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements are entrusted to the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses.
