Benjamin Macalush Obituary
Benjamin L. Macalush Jr., 89, of Coaldale, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale. He was the husband of Olga (Herbert) Macalush. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in May. He was a laborer for the former Bundy Tubing Co., Hometown, until retiring.Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Benjamin Sr. and Anna (Konderish) Macalush.
He was a member of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale, where he was an honorary council member and was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Macalush was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 615th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron.
He belonged to the Summit Hill American Legion and the Coaldale Russian Club.
Surviving in addition to his widow are many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Leonard Herbert, who passed away on Feb. 23, 2012; two sisters, Marie and Shirley; and two brothers Frank and Michael.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church, 217 First St., Coaldale, with the Rev. Paul Ropitsky officiating. Interment, parish cemetery, Summit Hill. Call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Parastas service 7 p.m. Friday. Contributions in his name may be made to the church. Arrangements by Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home, Lansford.

Benny is one of the nicest guys I have ever know. He loved his church and when he was taken out of church today, it was as if they were taking a cross out of our church. He will be missed by everyone. MEMORY ETERNAL BENNY
