Gabrielle L. Green
Gabrielle Leigh Green, 22, of Lake Harmony, died on Tuesday, April 24.
Born on Sept. 19, 1995, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of Marguerite Green and Michael Curry.
Surv-iving in addition to her parents are two broth-ers, Dan Henry and Jimmy Curry; two sisters, Cassandra Henry and Nadine Curry; four aunts, Jean Green, Therese Zapf, Marie Guthier and Joann Curry; three uncles, Wayne Straub, Frank Guthier and John T. Curry; 13 cousins, Lauren, Joshua, Gina, John, Christina, Eric, Wayne, James, Bethann, Frank, Michael, Jeff and Jason; and countless friends.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Shane Curry; her grandmothers, Jean M. Green and Joan A. Curry; grandfathers, John T. Roynan and John J. Curry; and an uncle, James Zapf.
Gabrielle attended Penn-Kidder Elementary School, St. Joseph Regional Academy and Marian Catholic High School, graduating in 2014. She also attended Bloomsburg University.
In her years at Marian Catholic, she was a member of SADD, the Green Club, FBLA and the Marian Fillies' basketball and softball teams, and was a Eucharistic minister.
As a four-year starter for the Fillies' basketball team, she helped to lead her team to appearances in the Schuylkill League championships in 2012, 2013 and 2014, a PIAA District XI championship in 2014, and a PIAA Eastern State Final appearance in 2012. She was named to numerous All-State and All-Area teams in her years as a Marian Fillie.
As a lifelong athlete, Gabrielle was also a member of the St. Joseph CYO basketball and track teams, the Jim Thorpe Little League, and the Marian Little Fillies' basketball team. In addition to team sports, she also had a passion for singing, skiing, snowboarding, golfing and art.
She was a parishioner of St. Peter the Fisherman Roman Catholic Church, Lake Harmony.
Through her compassionate decision, she provided hope to many men, women and children who were in need of a life saving or life enhancing transplant through the Gift Of Life program. Donations to help defray the cost of the funeral are appreciated and can be sent to Marguerite Green, P.O. Box 371, Lake Harmony, PA 18624. Any excess funds will be used to set up a memorial fund in Gabrielle's name. The family would like to extend special thanks to Lake Harmony Ambulance Assoc., Lehighton ALS, the Kidder Township Police Department, the staffs at St. Luke's hospitals in Lehighton and Bethlehem, the staff of Gift Of Life, and all of their friends and family for the tremendous outpouring of love, prayers, and support. Words cannot express our thanks to Dave and Cheryl Richardson for their support, advice and generosity.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, St. Peter the Fisherman Roman Catholic Church, Lake Harmony, with Msgr. John Chizmar officiating. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, Jim Thorpe. Call 8-11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Arrangements by David G. Richardson Funeral Home, 7450 Oxford Ave., Philadelphia.
