Glenmore L. Dotter
Glenmore L. Dotter, 81, of 16 Indian Trail, Penn Forest Township, Jim Thorpe, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown.
He was the husband of Ellen M. (Herman) Dotter. They would have shared 56 years of marriage on the 16th of this month.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Malvin H. and Clara J. (Meckes) Dotter.
He was a 1958 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School.
He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, and served during the Vietnam War.
Glen had built his own business, the Penn Forest Garage, on Bowman Road, which he operated for many years until illness had forced him into retirement. Also, he had served as a Pa. Deputy Waterways Conservation Officer.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Penn Forest, and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Jim Thorpe Area School District.
He was an NRA life member, and member of the American Legion, Post 304, Mauch Chunk Rod and Gun Club, and a prior member of the Fairview Hose Co., all of Jim Thorpe.
Glen was an avid hunter, taking many trips to Wyoming, Colorado and safaris to South Africa, Argentina and New Zealand.
He loved his horses and his farm, where he hosted many 4-H Club meetings and the annual fishing derby for the physically challenged.
In addition to his wife, Glen is survived by a brother, Jerry Dotter and wife, Ann; sister, Marlene "Sissy," wife of Warren "Butch" Reiner, Kay Ann Smith, widow of Edgar T. Smith; sisters-in-law, Ann, wife of Dan Dietrich, Rose, wife of Jim DeAngelo, Pattie, wife of Larry Gogal; brothers-in-law, Leonard Herman and wife, Mary, Tim Herman and wife, Patti; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Edgar T. Smith.
Services: The family will be having a private service. Mask required, please. Arrangements under the care of the Edward F. Melber Funeral Home in Jim Thorpe.
