Hricak Sr.

John T. Hricak Sr., 87, of Allentown, died Thursday in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Irene F. (Kopashy) Hricak. They observed their 58th wedding anniversary last April.

He was a machinist and foreman for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for many years prior to retiring in 1982.

Born in Hazlebrook, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Sisak) Hricak.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also with the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1937-39.

The deceased volunteered for Musikfest for 24 years, Meals on Wheels for 32 years and Christkindlmarkt and the physical therapy department of Muhlenberg Hospital for many years. With his wife, he volunteered at many area nursing homes, churches and senior citizen center, playing the tambourine, a pair of spoons and the boombah.

Hricak was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church.

Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, John T., and his wife, Sharon, of Stroudsburg, and Robert D., and his wife, Loretta, of Walnutport; two daughters, Nancy E., wife of Peter Zosky of Emmaus, and Jayne, wife of Stephen Dzienis Jr. of Bethlehem; three brothers, Andrew of Hershey, Bernard of Bellevue, Neb., and Thomas of Fort Fairfield, Maine; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Stephen, William and Michael.
