Thomas Messerschmidt Obituary

Thomas C. Messerschmidt, 82, of Hometown, died Sunday, March 7, in the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. He was the husband of Nancy (Iffert) Messerschmidt. They were married for 59 years.
Born in Grier City, he was a son of the late Cyrus and Anna (Schmerfeld) Messerschmidt.
He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua, the F. & A.M. Lodge No. 238, both of Tamaqua, and the Bloomsburg Consistory, and a life member of the Hometown Fire Company.
Messerschmidt was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Thomas, and his companion, Donna, of New Ringgold, and Barry, and his wife, Cindy, of Hometown; and four grandchildren, Angela Eberle, Kody Messerschmidt, Jason Messerschmidt and Joshua Messerschmidt.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Service: Memorial service 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, Lamar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown, with the Rev. Phyllis Wolford officiating. Interment at convenience of family, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua.

I too am saddened by Tom's passing. He was one of the guy's, a golfing buddy that we all will miss.We all called him uncle Tom.
