Agnes Julia

Agnes J. Floro, 91, of Genoa, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday afternoon, September 8, 2015, at the Genoa Retirement Village. She was born May 3, 1924, in Rossford, Ohio, to John and Julia (Toman) Peer. On March 2, 1946, in Rossford she married Jess D. Floro and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1978. During WWII she worked at the Erie Proving Grounds in Port Clinton, then worked as a telephone operator for the former General Telephone Co. in Genoa. She had also been a cook for the Luther Home of Mercy in Williston. Agnes was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa, where she was past president and member of the former Seaton Club and served on the former Rosary Altar Society. Many years ago she had been the organist for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Bono. Since 1965 she had been an active member of the Genoa American Legion Post #324 Auxiliary. Agnes was a loving person, who never knew a stranger, and will be missed dearly by her family.

She is survived by her sons, John Floro of Oregon and Mark (Stephanie) Floro of Hamler, OH; daughters, Theresa (Colvert) Peoples of Mounds View, MN, Lana (Jim) Aldrich of Woodville, Mary Younker of Walbridge and Jessica (Mike) Hineline of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jess, and eight siblings.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2015, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes, with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery. The family suggests memorials for Agnes to go to Genoa American Legion Auxiliary #324, P.O. Box 130, Genoa, OH 43430; Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 Main St., Genoa, OH 43430; Genoa Retirement Village, 300 Cherry St., Genoa, OH 43430; or to the donor's choice.
