Barbara Ruth Forrey

Barbara Ruth Forrey, age 90, of Maumee, OH, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born January 24, 1935.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband whom she was married to for 65 years, Harold Forrey; and her sister, Diane Kreger.

Barbara is survived by her nine children; 23 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Debra Slater; and her brothers, Dean and Larry Slater.

Family was the center of Barbara's life. She loved nothing more than gathering her loved ones together, planning family parties, and creating cherished memories. She enjoyed card games and puzzles, and she spent countless hours crafting beautiful handmade cards with her Cricut. Barbara was also known for her love of crocheting and for her passion for tennis - she never missed watching the majors. Each evening she tuned into Fox News, a favorite part of her daily routine.

Barbara had a special way of making her grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel loved. She never missed sending a holiday card, always prepared thoughtful goody bags, and made sure to bring joy to every celebration. Her kindness, laughter and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at Newcomer- SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., 419-381-1900. Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospitals or Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Barbara's memory.
