Barton CARSTEN Obituary

CARSTEN Barton Donald Barton Donald Carsten, age 91, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 8, 1920, in Rocky Ridge, Ohio to Clarence and Bertha (Lieski) Carsten. Barton was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy and former member of the VFW Point Place Post 3265. He worked for the St. Regis Paper Co. for over 35 years, retiring as a Supervisor in 1982. He was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. An avid bowler and fisherman, Barton was also a skilled craftsman. He built an addition to his home, a garage, and many beautiful birdhouses. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and family man, he will be dearly missed. Barton is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Osha Mae (Burke) Carsten; sons, Donald (Clare) Carsten of San Antonio, TX, and Randy Carsten of Canton, OH; sister, Carol (Lawrence) Hoagland of Moultonboro, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Shelly White, Laura Eichhorn, Michael Carsten and Stacie Wood, and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Clarence and Bertha; he was preceded in death by his brother, Warren Carsten, and grandson, Christopher Carsten. Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 E. Alexis Rd. Funeral Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Scott Smith presiding. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Limestone Cemetery, Graytown, OH. Memorial tributes may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
