Beverly Dennison Obituary

Beverly Ann Dennison

Beverly Ann Dennison, mother of daughter Wendy Swan and son Jerry Northup, and wife to husband Jim Dennison, joined the ever-widening circle of angels on the late morning hour of Sunday, February 20, 2022. She passed peacefully in the company of her daughter and husband, taken far too early by the ghost of cancer, which had shaded the last few years of life, but never eclipsing her bright, sparkling spirit until the last curtain.

For roughly five decades of her 75-year lifetime, Beverly made some of the most special moments in life even more special as one of the more recognizable faces and names in the jewelry business in Toledo. Her warmth, charm, and genuine love for what she did not only earned her lifelong clients, but lifelong friends that would follow her journey even as they traveled on their own. From first engagement ring and birthdays to wedding anniversaries and celebrations through the years, Bev touched the lives of thousands of families as one of the very best salespeople the industry has ever known.

That she had a jewelry career worthy of the "diamond anniversary" of her time on earth seems just, but not the whole story. She also was co-founder of the short-lived, but remarkably popular south Toledo eatery known as Dutch Treats. A personal favorite of The Blade's legendary food editor Mary Alice Powell, memories of that uncut gem of a restaurant remain very strong in the hearts, minds, and stomachs of many food lovers throughout the region. Sadly, that "five-inch-high apple pie" is among those lost Toledo treasures. Most of all, Beverly cherished spending time with her children; grandchildren, Samantha, Josh, Michaela, and Jacob; great- grandchild, Hazel and step-child, Yva Brickner. She is also survived by her father, Coleman Watson and brother, Mark.

With her husband, Jim, she loved the home they shared, listening to music, going to concerts at the Toledo Zoo, and chasing the sun to Florida, but especially loved traveling to Paris, France, as well as making several return trips to the Grand Canyon, one year taking the rocky, bumpy, eight-hour jeep ride out to the Toroweap Overlook in the remote North Rim. She was also a classically trained pianist who kept her "musician's ear" for music throughout her life. She had dozens of well-known favorites too numerous to mention them all. Of special note, however, the sounds of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and Tony Bennett and kd lang's "Moonglow" always made her happy. What made her happiest was watching and hearing her granddaughter Michaela perform in musicals like Hello, Dolly! and her guitar-playing son "Jerry on Strat!"

Beverly's loss to her family and friends feels as wide as the Grand Canyon itself. And yet, she leaves us all a lesson of forgiveness that no hurt is too great to overcome. She triumphed over the pain of this earthly life. She rejoiced in the lives of her loved ones around her. And, she will be missed in our hearts with love to the full measure of the distance from here "past the stars."

Husband Jim said it best, "A big heart and a forgiving soul." That was, and will forever be, Beverly Ann Dennison (5/1/1946 – 2/20/22). Online condolences to

Jerry and Ammi, Yva, Bob, Braxton and Beau and all the family - we were so sorry to hear of Beverly's passing - she was always so proud of Jerry and his music, When I had seen her at Yva's baby shower, she was so friendly and happy about the upcoming birth. She had a luminous smile and a great ear for music and fought a good fight against the cancer that took her.Our sincere condolences and prayers on your loss - she will be missed
