Carol Kipplen Obituary

KIPPLEN Carol "Ann" Carol "Ann" Kipplen passed away peacefully Monday, June 2, 2008, after a courageous year long battle with cancer. Ann was born in Youngstown, OH January 21, 1943. She graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School, Kent State University, and achieved her MBA from BGSU. She was employed by The State of Ohio Human Services for 31 years, then worked as a strategic planner liaison for the Institute of Human Services until her diagnosis last June. Ann loved her career and the people she worked with. Surviving loved ones include her devoted husband of 18 years, Ed Kipplen; brothers, Jim (Marie) Barrow and John (Bernadine) Barrow; stepdaughters, Anita (Mike) Nieves and Monica (Nick) Cook. Ann was also very much loved by her 5 grandchildren and countless friends. Twenty-one years ago Ann met her husband, Ed on a jogging trail at Wildwood Preserves Metropark, where they married 3 years later. Ann was a passionate lover and defender of animals who couldn't speak for themselves. She was sophisticated, a great planner, and a very beautiful woman. Her smile, compassion, and generous-caring spirit will be most missed. A memorial to celebrate Ann's life will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express sympathy are asked to forgo donations to The American Cancer Society, and contribute to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Blanchard - Strabler Funeral Home (419) 269-1111 is assisting the family. Online condolences: blanchardstrabler.com

Dear Ed and Family,
I am very sorry for your loss. I did not know Ann on a personal level; however, I could tell that she loved her work. She was extremely dedicated to her job as the State University Partnership Program (UPP) Coordinator. I just met Ann last August when I became the UPP Campus Coordinator for The University of Akron. What I do remember is that, regardless of her battle with cancer, she was determined to make the UPP a success. I greatly appreciated her support and guidance; Ann was an amazing person. She will be missed by her colleagues.
