I met Charles in 1950. He lived across the street on Warren street in Toledo,Ohio. I was 5 years old and Charles was 10. My next door neighbor and dear friend, David Lewis, who was also 5 years old, would go across the street to talk to Charles and his cousin Mike, who was 9. Charles and Mike were like big brothers to us. They taught us how to make little ''cars'' from crates and old wagon wheels and they would push on the sidewalk in the cars we made. They rode us on the big bikes to a park where we could pick pears in an old orchard. What wonderful memories. Charles and Mike were wonderful kids who grew up to be fine men. I pray that Charles' family finds comfort in the all the good that Charles did and the love he provided to his family. He was a good kid, a good man and a true friend. May G-d give him peace.
