Clark Hamilton Obituary

Clark W. Hamilton

Clark Wayne Hamilton, age 76, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, after a lengthy illness. Clark was born on April 14, 1948, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Ralph and Esther (Wootton) Hamilton. A 1968 graduate of Lake High School, Clark later attended The University of Toledo, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

Clark enjoyed a variety of careers, including positions with CSX Transportation, administrative roles in higher education at The University of Toledo and Lourdes College, and job development, job coaching, and fund raising for area social service agencies.

Clark was an avid runner, enjoyed traveling, was a longtime Penn State and Steelers fan, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and his many close friends. His concern for animal welfare led him to become one of the earliest members of Planned Pethood, Inc., serving as president for several years. His love of animals also led him to rescue and adopt many dogs and cats throughout his life.

Clark had a gift for easily connecting with others through his warmth, quick smile, genuine interest in, and ability to engage in any topic. He was known for having a great (and sometimes wicked) sense of humor and for often being the "life of the party." His unique and special energy will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his longtime companion and partner in life, Cathy Kuhman; closest friend and "brother," Lynn Miller; nephews, Gil Moore-Hamilton, Theorphilus Clark, Jr., Guy Clark, and Derek Hamilton; nieces, Jaleesa Clark and Brooke Hamilton; and many close friends who considered him family. Preceding Clark in death were his parents; sister, Sandra Hamilton; and brother, Ralph Hamilton, Jr.

A special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Hickman Cancer Center, Toledo Hospital, Hickory Ridge of Temperance, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, for their support and compassionate care throughout Clark's journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Planned Pethood, Inc., The Toledo Humane Society, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Clark was my neighbor for g many years and always there when needed. He'd go up on my roof and told him not fall with that smile just laughed. Always loved to cook on holidays with a passion and invite me and my friend. He loved his pets and had several strays that he took in to help them.I glad I got see him in final days which was difficult to do. One of a kind and he'll be missed!

I am so very sorry to hear of Clark's passing. Clark was part of our co-hort group in the Poli Sci dept at UT back in the early 80's. He was SUCH a character! Funny yet very caring. Please accept my sympathy.
