Edward Domansky Obituary

DOMANSKY

Edward J.

Edward J. Domansky, 89, of Toledo, passed away on March 22, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Mr. Domansky was born in Fairpoint, Ohio on August 8, 1923, to the late Walter P. and Anna (Klusek) Domansky.

A decorated WWII Veteran, Edward belonged to the 69th Infantry Division Battery C 724th Field Artillery. As Sgt. Chief of Section, his cannon crew saw action in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton, with engagements at St. Vith and Bastogne, Belgium and lending artillery support to the Allied taking of the Remagen Bridge, the only bridge left standing across the Rhine. At the end of the war in Europe, he was transferred to the 78th Lightning Division to relieve the 82nd Airborne in Berlin staying until August 1946 during the city's Allied occupation.

Upon his return to the states, Edward continued his education under the GI Bill, graduating from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and began a lengthy career working 36 1/2 years as an Electrical Lineman, Foreman, Trouble Dispatcher and in customer service at the Toledo Edison, retiring in 1983. During that time he was directly involved with electrical installations of the newly created Ohio Turnpike, and helped manage the collateral damage ensued in consequence of the 1961 Anthony Wayne Trail Fire. Apart from his professional life, in his free time Edward found immense enjoyment in stamp and coin collecting, complementing the collection he brought back from Europe at the war's end. But Ed's true focus and passion was just being with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, never missing a graduation, birthday, holiday or simple get-together with those he loved. His generous and kind heart, which gave encouragement to many, will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy (Melczak) in 1989 after 41 years of marriage; brother, Charles Domansky, and sister, Irene Molnar. He leaves his present wife, Glenita (Rosebery) Domansky after 21 years of marriage. Also left to cherish his memory, is his daughter, Marian (Craig) Fisher; step-daughter, Lynita Bigelow (Gary) O'Connor; step-son, David (Andrea) Rosebery, and grandchildren, Brent (Magan) Fisher, Theresa Fisher, Bradley, Brian and Bryn Bigelow and Laura (Scott) Sauerbier.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo. The family will receive guests at the church at 10:00 a.m. prior to Mass. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, OH or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many nurses, aides, volunteers and helpers at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, who gave such compassionate care. Words cannot adequately express the family's deep gratitude.
