Frank "Big Kahuna" Redman

9/4/1946 - 4/12/2025

Frank "Big Kahuna" Redman. age 78, of Mint Hill, NC, passed away on Saturday, April, 12, 2025. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia "Patti" Ray Redman; beloved daughters, Stephanie Friess (Mark) and Christine Redman; grandchildren, Tyler Baker and Chelsea Baker (Fletcher Isaacs); great-grandchildren, Nash and Skylee Isaacs; siblings, William "Bill" Manders (Toni), John Manders (Ileen), Louise Manders, Linda Kerul (Joe); sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean Kuhn (Dick), Cathe Hammer and Terese "Terri" Temper (Ted); as well as many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Redman and Margaret Flowers Redman Manders; stepfather, William Manders; sister, Margaret "Peggy" Smith; brothers-in-law, Robert Smith and Donald Hammer; as well as many of his close and dear friends.

Frank was born on September 4, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, to Frank Redman and Margaret (Flowers) Redman. At 10 years old, his father passed away from a massive heart attack. He was a 1965 graduate of Woodward High School. Frank grew up in the old Polish village and was blessed to have many long-lasting friendships with his classmates and neighborhood friends. Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a gifted baker, working for Balduff Bakery (a division of Seaway Foodtown) and Bi-Lo, until his retirement. Frank had an amazingly big and incredible heart and was full of life. He loved to joke around with his girls, especially trying to embarrass them driving down the road with the windows rolled down singing "Proud Mary" or "We are the World" as loud as he could for everyone to hear. If you had the pleasure of knowing him, you loved him. He enjoyed sports and was a faithful fan of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He loved to watch westerns (even if he watched them hundreds of times before) and was well known for his channel surfing skills. He collected "Coca-Cola memorabilia because of the polar bears, which was his high school mascot. Frank enjoyed traveling and when he was healthy, he and Pat were blessed to travel "all over, visiting many places" and admiring the beauty of each destination. To Frank, family was everything. He absolutely loved being a Papa and adored watching his great-grandchildren, whether in person or on the phone. They put a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will greatly be missed. There will be no other like him. We will miss his laugh, his smile, his jokes, his stories, his tv blaring, his channel surfing, and all his quirks, but most of all, the love that he had for each one of us. His love will continue to live on through the stories we share and the strength he passed down to all of us. We love you Dad and Papa.

A Memorial Mass honoring the life of Frank will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10:00AM at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Inurnment to follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Memorial donations in Frank's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Liberty Hospice Services.

I grew up on the same street as Frankie. We spent a lot of time together hanging out with our neighborhood buddies and playing baseball. When I was 7 and Frank was 9 years old we were playing 5 dollars. We both went for a fly ball and crashed into each other. I fell to the ground and Frank being a big 9 year old, landed on top of me, resulting in a broken arm for me! This had no affect on our relationship as cousins and friends! He was a very kind soul!

DEAR FAMILY, FRANKIE WAS A WONDERFUL GUY FROM THE POLISH VILLAGE, NORTH TOLEDO.
ALWAYS CONSIDERED A DEAR FRIEND, EVEN THOUGH WE LOST CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER
WHEN PATTI AND HIM MOVED T0 CAROLINA.

FRANK AND I JOINED THE NAVY AROUND THE SAME TIME. I REMEMBERED WHEN HE RETURNED BACK TO WOODWARD H.S. TO VISIT FORMER TEACHERS BEFORE LEAVING FOR NAVY BASIC TRAINING. POOR FRANK, WALKING DOWN THE STAIRWAY AT WOODWARD, HE FELL AND BROKE HIS ANGLE. PUT IS NAVY CAREER ON HOLD FOR A WHILE.
OUR FAVORATE "WATERING HOLE" WAS CLUB YOURS AND OURS". SOLVED MANY OF THE WORLD PROBLEMS AT THE BAR. FRANKIE WOULD TALK, I WOULD LISTEN.
REMEMBER THE PARTIES FRANK WOULD HAVE AT HIS MOTHERS HOUSE. FRANK AND HIS MOTHER WERE ALWAYS GRACIOUS HOSTS.

SOME TIME I CALLED HIM "MANIX"AFTER THE MANIX TV SHOW, HE LIKED TO WATCH.
FRANK, AT TIMES, WOULD REFER HIMSELF AS
"THE HAPPY BALDUF BAKER". I HONESTLY FELT HE LIKED HIS TRADE.

FRANK WAS PART OF OUR WOODWARD H.S.
GROUP. WE DID A LOT OF THINGS TOGETHER.
WE ALL GREW UP IN THE "POLISH NEIGHBORHOOD.

HAVEN'T SEEN YA FRANK SINCE YOU MOVED, BUT
AFTER READING YOUR OBITUARY, BROUGHT BACK MANY FOND MEMORIES.. ALWAYS CONSIDERED
YOU A FRIEND THAT I LOST CONTACT WITH.
GOD BLESS YOU PAT.
