Frank Veres Obituary
Frank Veres, age 91, of Holland, Ohio, died on October 23, 2018 after a lengthy decline from Alzheimer's. He was born August 21, 1927 in Niles, Ohio. He was married to Thelma Johanna (Hack) on June 7, 1954 and was married for 55 years until her death on July 21, 2009. Frank was educated at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Ceramic Engineering. He worked for Owen-Illinois as a research engineer from 1955 to 1977 and had 67 patents in his name. One of his great accomplishments was the product Cervet, which is still used as a mirror for astronomical telescopes currently used at Kit Peak, Arizona, Hawaii and Peru in the Andes Mountains and the Hubbell Telescope. A member of First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo. His interests included the stock market, gardening and traveling, and was known for his quick wit.
Survivors include his son Charles Veres (BillyJo) of Commerce Township, Michigan; daughter, Nancy McDonnell of Lakewood, Ohio and granddaughter Amelia McDonnell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Ester (Morritz) Veres; sisters, Margit Evantush, Elizabeth Russo, Ester Kermetz, Rosa Liber, Matilda Chito and infant brother, Stephen Veres. Friends are invited to visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, 43613. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo, 6520 Pilliod Road, Holland, Ohio 43528 where friends are invited to visit in the narthex after 10:30 a.m. Interment in Niles City Cemetery, 1213 Niles Cortland Road, Niles, Ohio at Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 11:00 a.m. with a brief service taking place at noon. Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo. Condolences for Frank's family may be expressed at
