Helen (Hunt) Read, of Toledo, passed away February 22, 2025, age 85. She was born November 15, 1939, in Toledo, to Frank and Dorothy Hunt. A graduate of Whitmer HS Class of '57. She met David Read when they both worked at Toledo Scale and married in 1958.
Her curiosity about genealogy evolved to a lifetime avocation including holding offices in historical and genealogical societies, seminar speaker, expert guest of local TV and radio shows, professional research for some prominent Toledo families, and publications filed at Library of Congress. After raising her sons she worked a full career as secretary for Nathan Danzinger at NW Mutual.
Survived by her children, Gary (Marlene) Read, Steven Read, James (Roxanne) Read; grandchildren, Nicole Read, Victoria (Zeph Gaines), Jennifer Read, Julia Farkas, Holly (Dustin Boles), Katrina (Adam Kerr); 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Tad DeVilbis). Preceding her in death, husband, David Read; siblings, Edwin Hunt, Jerold Hunt.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Memorial donation suggestion is to the Humane Society. Online Condolences can be made at www.reebfuneralhome.com

I cared and worked with Helen for quite some time. She was such an amazing person and had such bright ideas. I enjoyed playing card games, and having at home manicures. I miss her dearly and wishing her a happy early birthday.
