James Vice Obituary

James "J.B." Vice

April 15, 1945 - December 19, 2021

James "J.B." Vice, 76, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, December 19, 2021. Born to Byron and Mary Jane (Hester) Vice as the first of their five sons. He grew up on the South side of Toledo and graduated from Libbey High School in 1963. He patriotically served in the United States Navy on the USS Gainard and married his sweetheart, Linda Sue Weisenmayer, in 1967. They were married for 19 years and had two children.

Affectionately known as "JB Vice" to all his friends and coworkers, he was well liked and respected. He retired in 2002 from Ohio Bell after 32 years. He always felt very fortunate to have such a great job, working with the best people.

He left his mark all over the city of Toledo by signing "JB Vice" and the date in every electrical box he worked in over 3 decades.

He enjoyed golfing with his buddies, bowling, watching and correctly answering Jeopardy, listening to 60s music, shooting the sh!t with friends while drinking down a cold one, and was a lifetime avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburg Steelers football fan. JB enjoyed making sure his kids became self-sufficient and was proud of their successes. He was known as a very caring and generous person, donating to many causes.

Preceding before JB in death are his parents; uncle Skip; his brother, John; and his former wife, Linda.

JB was a great father, and he leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Cyndi Vice of San Antonio, Texas, Andrew (Carol) Vice of Spokane, WA; and his granddaughter, Allandria, currently following her grandfather's footsteps serving in the United States Navy. He also leaves behind three younger brothers, Tommie, Gary, and Dennis Vice, all of Toledo, Ohio.

He leaves behind many lifelong friends. He was beloved amongst his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He now joins his many friends who have gone before him and especially his best friend and neighbor, Don Hurt.

The family would like to especially thank the very caring staff at West Park Place who gave him an amazing place to live for the last two years. JB had many health problems, and he fought a brave and valiant fight.

A memorial service will be held at Conn Weissenberger Post, 2020 W. Alexis on Friday, January 21 at 4 p.m. We look forward to celebrating JB's life with all his friends.
