Jennifer Lorenz Obituary

Jennifer Lorenz

Jennifer Lorenz, 57, passed away unexpectedly in West Toledo on Wednesday, June 25, leaving behind a world a little less colorful without her shining presence.

Born in Ann Arbor and raised in Detroit and then Toledo, Jennifer was a proud graduate of DeVilbiss High School who carried the spirit of her Midwest roots wherever her adventurous heart led her. As a young adult, she lived briefly New York, then moved to her beloved San Francisco for 17 years before returning to Toledo for a life filled with family and old and new friends.

Jennifer possessed a rare combination of quirky coolness and genuine warmth that drew people in. Her emotions lived at the surface, and she approached life with an open-hearted authenticity and strength of personality.

She was known for her devotion to rock icons like Freddie Mercury and David Bowie while also keeping up with new music, frequenting live shows and making music the soundtrack for her life. She embraced all animals, volunteering and then working at the SPCA in San Francisco, running her own dog grooming business, and always having beloved cats at home.

Her professional work was varied; in addition to her work with animals, she served as a bank teller, a bookstore clerk at Owens Community College, and recently brought her flair for drama to life with Murder Incorporated dinner theater.

She is survived by her beloved partner, James Pheatt, and his loving family, who embraced Jennifer as their own; her brother, Jeffrey Lorenz, his wife Nancy, and family including Jennifer's cherished niece, Cathy Lorenz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Lorenz and Carol (Borgeson) Lorenz.

Rock on and peace out, Jennifer. Your flame shines eternal.
