John "Tony" Anthony Douglas

John "Tony" Anthony Douglas, 86, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2022. Tony was born on February 27, 1936, to John and Cecelia Douglas in Kingston, Jamaica.

While in Kingston, Tony worked as a certified accountant. In 1969, Tony relocated to Toledo, Ohio, where he worked for 30 years at Textile Leather. He loved photography, music, dancing, and enjoyed being around his family.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecelia Douglas; sisters, Victoria Sydnor and Hyacinth Bennett; daughter, Mischelle Douglas; granddaughter, Courtney Gibbons; and son-in-law, Preston Gibbons.

Tony leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Verbena Douglas of 60 years; 4 children, Andrea Summers, Annette "Donna" Gibbons, Jacqueline Gordon (Kevin), Michael Douglas (Pamela); 3 grandchildren, Kendra Borum (Tiawan), Victoria Douglas and Michelle Douglas; 2 great-grandchildren, Brielle and Braylon Borum; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Chapel (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 2315 Collingwood Blvd, Toledo, OH 43620.
