John Steinman Obituary

STEINMAN

Dr. John F. "Jack"

Dr. John F. Steinman, DDS of Maumee OH, passed away peacefully after a long illness at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on October 20, 2012. Jack was born January 10, 1931, in Toledo OH. Jack attended Ohio State University was a member of Psi Omega fraternity and graduated in June 1957. After an internship in Florida he established a dental practice in Maumee where he treated his many devoted patients for over 50 years. He was assisted in his practice by family members and Vonnie Mears. He loved his patients and they adored him as a moral and honest gentleman who never refused treatment to those with financial difficulties. One elderly patient who was unable to pay delivered homemade pies in gratitude for his service. Even through his long illness, he continued to see patients on occasion, and hoped to return to his office to see more of his patients. Jack's commitment to dentistry led him to invent, patent, and manufacture a tooth polisher that won the Inventor's Trade Association "Medal of Achievement". Jack's motto was "If you do something right, you will never be wrong".

Jack was married to his loving and devoted wife, Lena "Lee" Mastropere Steinman for 59 years. Jack raised his children on Kumler Drive in a house that he designed, drew the blueprints, and helped build. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheri Ann Steinman. He is survived by his wife, Lee; daughter, Sandra Lee (Drury) Tallant; sister-in-law, Dorothy (John) Brazeau Riser, and by his nieces and nephews.

In recent years he attended the Monclova Road Baptist Church. The family expresses its thanks and gratitude to Pastor Russ Merrin, his wife Norma, and other members of the church for the wonderful support they gave Jack. We are also grateful to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and attention.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Monclova Road Baptist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Dr. Steinman
You are going to be truly missed by alot of people. You were not only my dentist and friend, you were like a second dad to me. My dad and I enjoyed the time we had knowing you. May you now be with your daughter eternally and we will all meet again someday.

I am so sorry.

I just learned of his passing a few minutes ago, and I feel awful that I didn't know about this sooner, otherwise I would have gone to the funeral home...like he did for my Dad, when he passed away 4 years ago.

He and my Dad (Tom Comes) knew each other for years, and years, and years.

Dr. Steinman was a wonderful, enjoyable person to be around with...he just filled the room with kindness. And when I needed a dentist, he was always there for me. And it was because of him, he erased my fear of going to the dentist.

My prayers are with all of you, and may God help you during this sad time in your lives.

Sincerely,
Marty Comes

Dr. Steinman was the best dentist I ever had. He was such a kind and gentle man. I was introduced to him by my husband, Sam. My husband's family came to him for many decades. He will be greatly missed by our entire family. His kind nature and true concern for all he new is a quality that is rarely found. Now that his suffering is over, may he rest in God's loving arms for all eternity.

Even after I moved from the Toledo/Maumee area, I wanted for no one else to care for my teeth but Dr. Steinman, so I traveled many a mile to see him. He was not only a good and gentle dentist but a man of strong moral character. His counsel and advice while he repaired my teeth was not only wise and meaningful but he always kept me in a positive mindset during some trying times in the past. I loved this man. May God's best be always his and his wife, Lee. Cliff Ott, Delaware, Ohio

Truly a wonderful person!!! He was such a blessing to so many!!! Sorry for your loss! Rest in His promises! So sad, he's been on my heart to check in and see how he and family were, maybe even take more Oatmeal cookies... I'm so sorry I didn't take heed and listen to the Holy Spirit. Until we meet again!
Love, Gretchen
