Judith Wichowski Obituary

Judith E. Wichowski

Judith E. Wichowski, age 78, of Toledo, peacefully passed away under hospice care on Monday afternoon, August 9, 2021. Judy was born in Toledo on August 13, 1942 to the late James Benson, Sr. and Hazel (Barber) Benson. As a Point Place resident, she attended Woodward High School in Toledo where Judy was the Assistant Editor of the Tattler and a member of the following: Spanish Club, Honor Society, Leaders Club and the Future Teachers of America. Judy graduated from Woodward in 1960 and went on to attend the University of Toledo. At the University of Toledo, Judy was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. On April 4, 1964 she married Nicholas F. Judy taught third grade for two years at Shoreland Elementary School in Washington Township before becoming a homemaker and raising her two children. Later in life, she went back to school part-time earning her Juris Doctor from The University of Toledo College of Law graduating with highest distinction. Judy worked as a Staff Attorney with the 6th District Court of Appeals in Toledo for over 21 years; serving most of the time for Judge Melvin Resnick. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren, sci-fi and horror movies, and was an avid reader. Judy will always be remembered for her love of pets and her loving heart to rescue ones in need.

Surviving is her son, Nicholas F. Wichowski III of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Catherine (Patrick) Finney of Delta, OH; sister, Karen (Terry) Werner of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Donovan and Zane (love granny-Annie) Wichowski and Ciaran (sunshine) Finney; nieces and nephews, James Werner, Ellyn (William) Shultz, James K. Benson Jr.; sister-in-law, Dolores Benson; niece, Melinda Parker; and nephew, Jeff Parker; preceded Judy in death.

In honoring Judy's request there will be no public services. Although Judy spent the majority of her adult life in north Toledo, Point Place was always home, the "best place any place".
