Kerrigan Quicker Obituary

Kerrigan Michael Quicker

An incredible man, known by many as KQ, has taken his talents to heaven. Kerrigan "KQ" Quicker, 51, of Toledo, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. The son of Bruce Quicker and Crystal Britton, Kerrigan grew up in the Toledo area. He was a 1988 graduate of St. John's Jesuit High School, where he made many lifelong friends. He then attended and graduated from Western Michigan University where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Returning to Toledo, Kerrigan joined his father's company in sales at Toledo Industrial Maintenance Supply (TIMS). From that point on in his career, Kerrigan spent most of his time in banking (over 16 years) as a commercial lender. He was most recently employed as Vice President of Sales at Wheeler Financial.

KQ had a zest for life and the ingenuity to put it into action. If there was a party, you could count on Kerrigan for cigars, bonfires, great conversations, reciting movie lines, and belly laughing all night long. If there was food needed at a gathering, he was the master of this domain with the grill and smoker. KQ's BBQ skills were unbelievably meticulous. His BBQ ribs were a family favorite. If you were in need of some sports bantering, he was the first to jump in, especially when it revolved around his beloved Michigan Wolverines. If there were "vacation talks," KQ was making calls, sending emails, and presenting ideas before you could blink! He loved vacationing down south, but especially loved Kiawah Island, SC. If you were in need of anything, Kerrigan would always be there to help or connect you to someone who could. That's just who he was.

Kerrigan was a man who was never afraid to challenge the status quo or fight for what he believed in. His views and opinions were always driven by the desire to make things better in this world. The family text group was quite enlightening thanks to many of his insightful posts. KQ clearly understood the importance of family. It was the single most important thing to him. In particular, he fiercely loved and protected his 3 girls. Melanie, Kylee, and Anna were the center of his universe. He married Melanie Perz on April 26, 2003, on Kiawah Island, SC. They share two beautiful daughters, Kylee and Anna. In addition to many other family activities, Kerrigan actively supported his daughters' love of running cross-country and track. He was involved with their running, and most recently was assisting as a coach for the St. Ursula cross-country team. He also served on the Boosters at St. Ursula Academy. Not a moment passed when he wasn't doing something to better his family.

Kerrigan is survived by his wife, Melanie Quicker; daughters, Kylee and Anna Quicker; father, Bruce Quicker (Linda Schlachter-Quicker); sisters, Katrina (Michael Ody) Quicker and Kim Post; and parents-in-law, Joseph (Sally) Perz; sisters-in-law, Allison (Bill McElheney) Perz, Julie Perz, and Andrea (Dave) Wells; brother-in-law, Brian (Angelia) Perz, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Crystal Britton.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH 43623. A special memory-sharing bonfire will be held at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5411 Main St., Sylvania. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Those wishing to offer a memorial tribute are asked to consider St. Ursula Academy in the name of Kerrigan Quicker or St. John's Jesuit High School.

Kerrigan and I were each others first friend. I grew up next door to him and we played together from infancy until I moved from Toledo at the age of 6. I was informed of his passing from a common friend we had that I happened to meet in West Virginia about 9 years ago. My condolences to his family.
