Lillian C.
Lillian C. Huebner, age 97, of Lambertville, formerly of Toledo, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2014.
Lillian was preceded in death in 2011 by her loving husband of 72 years, Robert J. (Bob) Huebner and by her sister, Miriam N. Sommers.
Lillian was born in 1917 at Detroit, Michigan to Otto and Florence (Jacobs) Birr.
The family moved to Toledo in 1922. In 1934, she graduated from Woodward High School, where she met her future husband Bob. She and Bob were married in 1939.
Survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Gareth) Greene, of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, David Scott (Maritza) Shuman of Webster, NY and Betsey (Warren) Gawve of Churchville, NY; brothers-in-law, Howard Sommers of Toledo and Darryl (Sandy) Huebner of Rockford, MI; sister-in-law, Bettylou Lieffers of Grand Rapids, MI.
Lillian worked at the former Lasalle's and Lamson's Department Stores, and the former Surface Combustion Company. She retired from Haughton Elevator in 1965. She and Bob enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe and Hawaii. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending time with family. Lillian was a member of Second Church of Christ, Scientist. She was also a longtime member of Ft. Industry and Yondota Chapters, Order of Eastern Star, and Owens-Illinois Golden Emblem Club.
Lillian's family wishes to thank her devoted caregivers at Aspen Grove Assisted Living and ProMedica Hospice, and also for the love and caring shown by friends, Gary and Belle Osburn.
The family will receive friends at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd. on Thursday, September 4, 2014, 4:00-8:00 p.m. with Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday September 5, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial tributes to ProMedica Hospice, 5577 Monroe St., Sylvania, OH or to Second Church of Christ, Scientist, 2073 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo.
